Where do you find the time?

It's a question that I am asked often when it comes to fitting in my workouts. My answer, I do it when I can but make sure I get it done that day.

I used to have a set time to workout but I have not yet found my groove at my current duty station so things switch around. I love waking up in the morning and getting my workout knocked out and I would LOVE to do that but at this time my pregnant behind would have to wake up at 4:30 just to get the workout it and that would mean sacrificing family time by going to bed at 7. So, I now either workout during my lunch break (my job gives me 90 min) or right after work. Since I am doing Chalean Extreme the 30 minutes of quiet time after work to get my workout in really works for me and on the weekends I do my workout 1 hour after eating breakfast whenever it is that I wake up and actually get to it so it's anywhere between 9-11 in the mornings.

I have a few tips that may help you find your groove to finding time to get your workout in.

Write out your schedule - List everything that you do so that you can see what your day looks like.

Look for an open spot - Look for an open spot in your schedule if it is something like TV time or quiet time maybe try adding your workout in there giving up 30-60 minutes of your TV time to change your life is totally worth it.

Schedule your workout - Fit the time in for your workout and make it non-negotiable NO IF AND OR BUTS it is your workout time unless something comes up like a vacation, a sick child, you are sick, or something else that can deter you. It becomes your job your workout is something that you HAVE to do because you HAVE to take care of your body and health.

Have a back-up plan - Things happen we all know this life waits for no one so always have a plan B in mind. If I know that I can't workout at 5 PM than I make the time during lunch to workout or I will get up in the morning to get it done or switch my rest day if neither works out with my daily things to do that day or I just cancel on my girls night out but that would probably be when trying to lose this baby weight ha ha!

If you want to succeed than you will do what you have to do to make things work. You would take another shift at work just to get some extra cash to make ends meet or for some Christmas money think of your workout in that way. It is something that you have to do and is a component of a healthy lifestyle.

How bad do you want it and how far are you willing to go to go get it? Maybe you should revisit your goals and why you started this healthy lifestyle and relight your fire to get there.

Ultimate Reset Final Review

I did it! I conquered it and it is DONE! I lost a total of 7.8 pounds and 7.4 inches all over my body which is pretty decent for a girl who thought she has nothing to lose.

I want to clarify that I did not do this to lose weight but to experience the process so that I could recommend it to those that are interested in doing the Ultimate Reset and to have overall good health for myself. Weight loss was just a side effect of living a 100% clean life and when you are eating fruits and vegetables for 2 and a half weeks weight loss will happen I don't care who you are.

Was I happy to see a flatter belly and the cellulite disappear from my thighs HELL yeah I would be lying if I said no. I also did this to go vegetarian and see if I would enjoy it and I will go into all of that here on this post....it may be a long one so if you aren't interested in the reset I think you should just stop reading :)

Ok so I started this thing with super high hopes. I knew that I was going to feel like crap for the first few days and my diet was going to change into a vegetarian then vegan diet. I saw and looked over the book read the material over and over and I was totally positive. So what did I like?

I loved that;

I had portions that were filling
I was able to try new foods
I was not starving
I had a schedule that didn't change
I ate healthful foods and didn't just have a liquid diet
There was variety
The options for different food choices and menu switching
the way I slept
The way my face cleared up
I was able to try new things that I never thought that I would want to try anymore.

What I didn't like;

The variety (I know I said I liked it but at the end I was eating the same foods)
Being cold ALL the time.
No leeway for a cheat meal or combining Week 1 menu with Week 3 per say
That I had to change my whole entire life for this
The emotional feelings I felt
The length of time
I couldn't workout

After the middle of week 2 I was OVER this thing. I didn't want to eat any of the food and I just wanted to rebel. This probably had more to do with the fact that my son and husband were eating fish sticks, french toast, man and cheese in my face along with sweet treats. Even though I normally wouldn't eat those things the fact that I couldn't because of this program made it a real mind game for me.

I knew everything that I needed to do prior but I hit a wall. I was tired of eating fruit every single freaking morning since week one and a freaking microgreen salad every day for lunch. I wanted flavor because the food was bland but every time I wanted to give up I thought about the benefits that I was having despite the fact that I wanted to quit. It was purely mind over matter.

I also realized that this was just TOO strict for me and being someone that was already small I didn't really need that kind of structure to a degree. I was pretty happy with the weight loss that I had achieved but am glad that this pushed me more toward a cleaner lifestyle overall. I don't crave sugar as much and caffiene either so my coffee and super candy cravings are over. The processed food cravings are also gone and I truly crave more natrual foods. Even though I didn't crave meat I wanted to eat it right away as I found out through this process that I am not mentally ready to be a full on vegetarian just yet, I need more time but have given up pork and red meat for good. To think about it I don't really want to put a label on myself anymore truthfully, I want to eat what I want to eat and be classified as JEANNETTE not Jeannette the vegetarian or vegan just Jeannette a pretty cool girl that loves her family, friends, health and fitness ;)

So enough of the Negative NancyRevelation stuff, I really did like trying new things, and learning more about the discipline that I carry on my own accord. I did miss a lot of things but I knew that this was temporary. I would recommend this to other people ONLY if they were READY like REALLY READY to start a new weight loss regimine and/or stuck on a plateau. I would recommend it to someone who wants to try a vegetarian diet and lastly I would recommend it to someone who has the support and someone to do it with them.

Doing this Reset with my cousin was a blessing for me and I totally would have quit had I not had her cheering me on the way that she did and I am totally grateful to her for that! We both agree that working out or lack thereof was the worst thing that could have come of this but we take our workouts more seriously now and have our head in the game.

Would I do it again? Simply put no. I went through it did it but I like the freedoms that I have with eating and maintaining my weight but this gave me a good solid base to come back to when I find myself not fitting into my clothes.

I will post pictures and final stats later this weekend. This week and last week was super crazy for me. I have Bible study and duty and had it last week too so me taking the time to write this was blah.....crazy!!!

Ultimate Reset 11 - 13

Ultimate Reset......

I feel kind of bad because I don't have any real updates, this has been a part of my life for the past 13 days and I can say that I am accustomed to it already lol. I did change the eating plan and refused to eat another salad so I made quinoa pilaf for Friday night dinner and for lunch Saturday and Sunday and I ate it for dinner as well so it was pretty blah. I can tell you that I am over giving my control to this program and I am ready to eat what I want to eat. I have been craving healthy foods except popcorn and Sour Patch Kids but I think that it is because I can't have it, not because I really want it.

I have been reading other blogs and I really want to eat all the healthy foods that they post again because I can't have them on a normal day I would maybe do one recipe/week or month if it looks that good. I have also increased my meals. I was TOO hungry and just added more vegetables to whatever I was eating because all weekend I ate 2 apples for a snack when I was only supposed to have 1......OOPSIE! Not really I don't feel guilty about it at all. I was hungry and I fed my body, I want this to be a pleasurable experience and being hungry was not an option. This wasn't something that was me being dehydrated trust me I drink my gallon a day. I was truly hungry to the point where I had hunger pains. I kept everything within the plan I just ate more so I don't feel bad about it at all. :) One set way is not right for everybody because every person is different. This was MY reset experience and call it what you will but I have no regrets for fueling my body at all.

******CONFESSION: I WORKED OUT 25 minutes and it was not yoga*******

I felt great and don't regret that either because I was on a HUGE verge of blowing up for no reason. It was not like my PT test of a workout it was more of a functional workout called Buti a mix of yoga and plyo. Man was it nice to sweat. I did my 25 and I was GOOD to go my mind was right and I was in the best mood of my life that day!

That's really all I have just a rant and a tattle on myself LOL TOMORROW I finish week 2!!!! WOOT WOOT! I will post my stats on Thursday because I have duty and will not have access to my scale but I will do my measurements on Wed morning :)

I think I have decided that I am going to actually do either Body Beast or Insanity I just haven't made up my mind yet :) I have 1 more week to decide. What do you think?

Ultimate Reset Day 6

Today was a pretty eventful day! It was full of frazzle brain craziness. I woke up and felt great I still have that pain in my back but it is going away.

Baked tempeh.......it was really really dry. I used other peoples suggestion and marinated it overnight and the taste was great but wow my mouth was like the Sahara Desert LOL wow I broke the rules and I drank water with my breakfast. FYI you are not supposed to drink water with your meals because it disrupts the persons dogestive juices and messes with digestion. Anyway it was pretty okay I just didn't really like that it was dry. I have another try tomorrow at it so we shall see.

I totally worked out today.......You are not supposed to workout on the Reset BUT I am in the military and I had to do my PT test. I tried to schedule it before the Reset and no one was able to do it for me for me until today. But I did a great job on it despite feeling tired through out the whole thing. I ran 1.5 miles in 12:20, 40 push-ups, and 82 sit-ups. I felt SOOOO tired for the rest of the day and can totally understand why they say not to workout.

Second bust of the day I forgot my quinoa salad and at WAYYYYY late I had breakfast at 6:20 and lunch at 1:15 craaaazy, but I had to do what I had to do and it is what it is and I can say that I am glad that today is over lol

Dinner was rather interesting to. I ate beets for the first time, I am not really that much of a fan but at the same time it was sweet so it cured my sweet cravings. :) I thought I was going to love this meal because so many people have spoken so highly of it but eh it was ok. I would make it again just not really have it in the regular rotation. There was also a zucchini cashew soup....eh I wasn't a fan of that one it tasted like cashews, it makes me think that I did something wrong but I didn't lol.

I ended up waiting so long for lunch because of my workout and it spiked my metabolism and because I forgot 1/2 my lunch I was famished and totally ready for snack and I felt really low and hungry just really icky and I can tell you that I will never do that again with the way I felt after the workout it totally solidified the fact that I was still cleansing and will be and it is my time more than ever take a break and enjoy the rest of this process.

So, needless to say today was not the best day on the reset but I managed to get through it, eat all my meals and be okay. I am pooped but I will be okay tomorrow is another day and this day that happened was just life! I can't wait to weigh in! I feel lighter and more alert and I know that the scale isn't everything but the whole circle of the measurements, pictures, and the weight will all be great! I can see the changes all around!

Ultimate Reset Day 5

Hello!!!!

Day 5 is almost done. I can say that this has been the most eh of the meal plan all week. Everything looks pretty bland but breakfast and lunch were good and satisfying and for a snack I had edamame. So, on the reset you are able to swap your breakfasts for breakfasts and so on so I switched my breakfast this morning for some seasonal fruit, for lunch I had what was on the menu and for dinner I am doing the same thing. I really like that flexibility because I am not a fan of sushi and I am not a fan of farina and I know them both for a fact and to have a great experience I didn't even both making those two dishes. I fell in love with the coconut quinoa that I just kept eating it because I enjoyed it and I wanted to use the coconut milk that I bought.

Lunch Day 5

Dinner Day 4

TIP:  I spent $145 on food and I didn't even use all of the food that I bought so I suggest either doubling up on recipes that you think you will enjoy and forget the rest and save some cash. That is what I am going to do for week two to try and save some $$.

I woke up at 6:00 refreshed and ready to start my day, I wanted to stay in bed as always but the kiddo didn't let us but it gave us a head start to getting ready for church which isn't such a bad thing especially when all you really want to do is be lazy. I got really hungry at church and I blame that on the lack of water but I had already drank a ton or so I thought but I made it home and to my meal in no time, as you can see above it doesn't take that long to make :)

I have not had meat in 2 days and I can honestly tell you that I don't really miss it other than chicken wings....I don't understand my obsession about it is but I really really like chicken wings LOL.

So despite trying to relax on this wonderful Sunday, I still had to paint my sons room, the room was a really really dark brown looking color and trying to put yellow on top of it was worse than white I tell ya. So I had to go back to the store get more paint did a bit of shopping for myself and got back to it. It is now 6:30 and I have no idea where my day has gone so needless to say yoga tonight is probably not going to happen since I have to get dinner ready for the family get showers and probably hit the sack.

Well, off to go cook dinner for the family....maybe I'll try to get a half hour of yoga in before showering.....we shall see! Until tomorrow!

If you have any questions about the reset please feel free to ask me

Tips on healthy eating

I am currently running a 30 day eat clean challenge on Facebook for friends of mine that currently want to learn how to better eat healthy and how to decrease their grocery budget. So far it has been a HIT and there are so many people that are gaining clarity on what a healthy lifestyle is. It truly warms my heart when people tell me about their changes toward a healthier lifestyle! I digress, I apologize I am just SO happy for my challengers!

I know that there are many people that don't understand this "lifestyle" and I wanted to share my 2 cents on what it really is and how it is not a diet. So I created a little tip list that I have used to help me out and now I pass it along to you :)

Start building every meal with a lean protein- eggs, turkey breast, chicken breast, lean red meat, bison, game meats, fish, shellfish. You can have protein drinks and I would limit them to no more than 2 times per day.

Eat your veggies - Eat at least 5-6 servings of vegetables (non-starchy carbs). One for every meal or snack or two different vegetables for each meal. Refer to the food list in the tabbed section of the blog.

Eat at least 2 fruits per day

Eat whole grain carbohydrates but keep them at a minimum. If you work out a lot than you can have more but keeping them at a minimum in your daily diet is ideal.

Eat mostly foods that are natural. Did this food come from a tree, farm, plant, ground, did it walk fly or swim? Then you can have it, if not then you shouldn't. Same goes with labels if you cannot pronounce the name of the foods than it is PROCESSED.

Eat 5-6 times a day with a meal or snack every two to four hours.

Follow the 90/10 rule. Keep your good nutrition 90% of the time while the other 10 gives you room to indulge and keep this lifestyle

1 Full Month of CSF

Well the month of Jan it done and over and I have been on the CSF program for about 6 weeks now and I am really seeing some serious changes in my body. I can totally attribute that to my diet. I am seriously eating a BUNCH more than I ever have in my life. I seriously thought that my portions were good and they were I was just indulging too much. Everything is slimming out and I have not cut anything out of my diet.

I have eaten chicken wings and my microwave popcorn that I love so much but I have it in LESS moderation than I was having it before. I think one day I ate 4 bags in a sitting because I was watching television and it just tasted so good. Anyway I have learned even more about portion control and the true meaning of Clean Eating! I can really say that I am happy about that and the more I learn the more well rounded of a person I become. I have started a FB challenge for Clean Eating and I am totally excited about it. It has grocery lists recipes and everything it's going to be pretty cool! The best part is that I have the most challengers ever and it's FREE so I know people are eating that up! I love love love it when people want to get healthy! It makes me so happy and even if it doesn't click the first time around most people that come across my path eventually get it and create their own way with it which pleases me and gives me such a sense of warmth inside. That's really what it is all about taking in the information and making it your own and doing what works for you :). I only have my experience to what works but have tons of general information that you can plug into and make your own.

So I digressed BIG time there. This past weekend I had the pleasure of joining the Cathy Savage Camp where we learned a TON about competitions. How to pose, walk, eat, what to do, when to do it and we got an assessment from Cathy herself which was really awesome! It was totally worth the money and I was able to hang out with some super awesome people. I mean you would think (well me being me) that you are going to COMPETE against these women and it should be ugly because this one won a world title or that one placed in her show but it wasn't catty AT ALL. I have met some of the SWEETEST women in one place. The girls weren't even this nice in the Army or the Coast Guard, but living with people is a totally different monster to tackle lol (benefit of the doubt). If you want discipline and don't want to do a beachbody program because you are more into the gym I would totally say that this is the way to go :) Well here are my end of the month progress pic. Enjoy!

Week 3 DOWN! Progress Pics!

I am done with week 3 training and I can say that WOW am I feeling a change in my body and mind! Things are slowly coming into perspective as I inch by closer and closer to my competition date. While it is still far away, I am feeling more confident about the whole thing.

This was the FIRST week that I am not in pain so I am getting "used" to the workouts! Don't get me wrong I am still pushing and sweating I am just mobile when it comes to moving. The Sunday workout got me REAL good I was hurting until Wednesday!!!!! Way to go Cathy! LOL. I did some yoga to stretch my muscles and MAN was that amazing! I totally enjoyed the peace and serenity that came with the yoga poses and what not.

I have finally found my rhythm as well FINALLY!!!!!! I have filled up my plate with so much that I had to figure out a way to get all of my commitments honored in a balanced way! Right now I have

College classes
Full Time job
Mommy
Wife
Bible study
Competition workouts
Competition meal planning.
Running online challenge groups

This is all that I have to balance in my 24 hour day! So I thought that I would write down a few tips that I have learned along the way to help you out!

I have a planner. A paper and pen planner! I write down everything that I want to accomplish that day in my planner. Which means that I take my weekly HW assignments or my things to do and break them down in to smaller assignments or tasks. For example, I have 5 assignments due this week on top of reading for my class. So I put one chapter and one assignment down for each day and knock it out when the day comes. If I see it planned it relieves so much stress for me! I also write in my workout and cardio separate on my calendar so that I can individually check them off. On days like Wednesday when I have a ton to do and Bible Study takes up most of my evening I try to lessen the load on myself :) it's all about balance and what works for YOU! My way may not be the best way but it works for ME.

Try and find something that works for you and start achieving it to create balance in your life. It takes work and discipline in the beginning but the payoff is unreal!
