Living life

I have had plenty of time to think on this road trip - family vacation that we have taken over the past month and it has been a wild and crazy ride. I have been enjoying all of this time with my family but most of all taking a break from what we call life.

I must admit that being in Kodiak kept me on a straight forward schedule and I more often than not did the same things every single day. Just like Groundhogs Day! Wake up, eat breakfast, drop he kid off at daycare, go to work, workout, go back to work, go home, cook, then sit my butt on the couch and rot in front of the TV. It is very different for us now. We are living out of our suitcases going from family members house to family members house getting in the car and driving through different states and getting to rekindle relationships with our families after not being able to see them due to the demands of being in the Coast Guard.

The one thing that I have learned on this little trip of mine is that I had become OBSESSED with food, what I was eating and beating myself up if I didn't workout. I am sure that it stems from my past and it is still rearing it's head out there every once in awhile and it feels nice to just LIVE. Now don't get me wrong I am eating my veggies, drinking my Shakeology but if I want a soda I have one and don't beat myself up over it. I can tell you that I feel now after not really working out so much in the past month that I am certainly feeling the effects of a diet that isn't so clean any more but it is bringing me back to a normal me. One that is OK with eating some chips here and there and learning to enjoy food that tastes good that may not be great for you instead of using that food to completely nourish my body.

My little man and I in Canada!
After being at the mercy of fast food places and the lovely vices that there are here I AM ready to get back onto my eating clean train when I get to Massachusetts and I do plan on working out every day. I can literally feel the effects of a diet that isn't so great and my face broke out REALLY BAD I thought I was a teenager again! SO even though I am enjoying the good life and doing things in moderation I am ready to be in control of what I am eating instead of being at the mercy of the in-laws or my parents house and eating what they cook for the sake of not being rude. My mother taught me better than that :)  I am thinking about getting on the Chalean Extreme train when I get back because it is a nice 30 minute workout that I can do in the mornings before I go to work.  I also plan on getting all the yummy goodies that I was missing out on while I was in Alaska! Like buying already shredded carrots!!!! YIPPIE! I am ready to get HOME and work on this thing called BALANCE!
