Week 3 DOWN! Progress Pics!

I am done with week 3 training and I can say that WOW am I feeling a change in my body and mind! Things are slowly coming into perspective as I inch by closer and closer to my competition date. While it is still far away, I am feeling more confident about the whole thing.

This was the FIRST week that I am not in pain so I am getting "used" to the workouts! Don't get me wrong I am still pushing and sweating I am just mobile when it comes to moving. The Sunday workout got me REAL good I was hurting until Wednesday!!!!! Way to go Cathy! LOL. I did some yoga to stretch my muscles and MAN was that amazing! I totally enjoyed the peace and serenity that came with the yoga poses and what not.

I have finally found my rhythm as well FINALLY!!!!!! I have filled up my plate with so much that I had to figure out a way to get all of my commitments honored in a balanced way! Right now I have

College classes
Full Time job
Mommy
Wife
Bible study
Competition workouts
Competition meal planning.
Running online challenge groups

This is all that I have to balance in my 24 hour day! So I thought that I would write down a few tips that I have learned along the way to help you out!

I have a planner. A paper and pen planner! I write down everything that I want to accomplish that day in my planner. Which means that I take my weekly HW assignments or my things to do and break them down in to smaller assignments or tasks. For example, I have 5 assignments due this week on top of reading for my class. So I put one chapter and one assignment down for each day and knock it out when the day comes. If I see it planned it relieves so much stress for me! I also write in my workout and cardio separate on my calendar so that I can individually check them off. On days like Wednesday when I have a ton to do and Bible Study takes up most of my evening I try to lessen the load on myself :) it's all about balance and what works for YOU! My way may not be the best way but it works for ME.

Try and find something that works for you and start achieving it to create balance in your life. It takes work and discipline in the beginning but the payoff is unreal!

Feb 4th Challenge Group!

I have been hosting challenge groups for over a year now and these groups have had soooo much success I am hosting another one! If you are wondering what a challenge group is here is some information!

What is a Fitness Challenge Group?
A Challenge Group is a small group of like minded people all working together to help each other succeed in their weight loss journey.

The fact is – I could sell you P90X or Shakeology, earn some money for referring you to the program, and send you on your journey alone without a clue as to what eating healthy and doing this program really entails and who likes to workout by themselves without any support? Many coaches do this but that is NOT what I am all about! I want YOU to succeed. I want you to feel good about yourself and I want you to reach your goals and see your potential and hopefully change how you view food and get the word DIETING out of your vocabulary! Chances are without a coach, and without that support group there to hold you accountable, you are likely to fall through the cracks and never see changes in your life. Challenge Groups help people get the BEST results possible.

What is my commitment as a Challenger?
The commitment is 60 or 90 days of your preferred Beachbody workout program, Shakeology every day and a private Facebook accountability page for daily mini challenges, support and motivation.
–You do everything at home, on your time and your schedule.
–Group interaction is all done on a private Facebook group where the team posts each day.

What do I need to do to get started?
It’s SO easy!!!!

Sunday Session @ CS Fitness!!!!

OH MY GAHHHHHHHH! I woke up at 7 AM this morning made my breakfast and started the 1 hour voyage to the Cathy Savage Studio! WOW! I was all riddled with anxiety at what the girls looked like, if they were going to be snooty, or just look at me like SHE wants to compete?! I guess sometimes when you see the beauty that is on the stage you get kind of FREAKED out because there is this "unsaid" thing that pretty, skinny girls are snobs. I totally fell into judgment but more for myself. Well I walked in all shaky (I know I am silly) and I said hello saw Cathy right away and signed in! THIS girl had to shake her hands a bit to write on the paper LOL.

So at first it was like being in an elevator where you are looking around trying to avoid people and eye contact. One of the girls said hello to me and we hit it off right away and I felt so much more at ease. She told me about her first competition after the birth of her son and how I am starting at a good place and what not. THEN we started!

It was all good at first a few sprint drills, walking up and down the gym much like they are in the video. Then it was ALL IN THE LEGS! HOLY CULO! It was intense! I thought I was going to get sick one time! I wouldn't let myself do it. 1.) The other girls weren't and 2.) I am competing against some of these girls. NO WAY I am going to WIN! ha ha ha! Maybe not really but I pride myself in my fitness and I am NOT going to give up even though for real I wanted to sit the hell down and breath! WOWZA is all I can say. So check this out! This chick is tricky! She almost cools us down right (I can breathe again) and then we start on freaking squat thingies and lateral hops to the side and plie squats in bouces OH MY LORD my legs were not thinking at that point! SHEESH she got me good! ha ha ha!

Then it was off to posing. I had more fun there and realized THIS is what I am here for! TO get in the best shape of my life, get into those heels and rock the HELL out of that swimsuit for myself and the people that are watching me! I realized right there and then when I saw myself walk that I wanted this! No more skipping meals, no more not planning. I am IN THIS I am going to freaking compete and be a ROCKSTAR!!!! I am so excited that I found this team and glad to be a part of such wonderful women!!!!!! AMAZING!

Coach check in

So I had to check in with my coach and I have been on this journey for a month now but actually doing the workouts for 2 weeks now and I can say that I am really being challenged. I really do enjoy the challenge that I am facing and can already see minor changes in my body, more so the bloating issue that went away but that is now back.......darn being a woman sometimes! LOL. I had to send in pictures this week so that was totally a bummer because I looked exactly the same lmao!

It kind of taught me a lesson and put me back at where my challengers in my challenge group are. They want to see results fast and they are wondering why they are not happening, and I now get it all over again! I need to constantly remind myself that I every little thing that I am doing today is going to compound into something great I just have to trust the process. I think today was the biggest eye opener to me and I finally didn't see this as something that I would see how it went.

I HAVE to finish this journey that I put myself on because 1.) I made the goal and I am no quitter and 2.) I made it public here and with other friends as well. This journey is NOT easy and before today I have thought about quitting ONCE a day! Can you believe it. It has been such a challenge to get my meals and to plan them out and to go shopping because I ran out of something.......this week alone I went to work with tuna and brown rice and it tasted HORRID! BLAH I was like what the heck did I just get myself into! ha ha ha! This is a journey and just like any other journey that I am going to face I am going to hit road blocks and I am going to go through struggles but I have to believe and pray that this will all be ok and this will get better!

Until next time!!!!!

Recipe: Cookie Dough Hummus

There isn't too much outside of clean that I can eat while I am on this competition diet which is totally okay with me because it opened my eyes to exactly HOW much process unhealthy foods I was eating. Time for a reality check right?

SO I went digging and I found this recipe and I LOVE IT! I can eat everything in it and I would use it on a cheat day because of the sugar and the chocolate chips and graham crackers that you can eat with this and that my dears makes it all that much better!

Don't be afraid to try it just because chickpeas are in there. It's really good and good for you! I DARE you to bring this to a party and not tell anyone that this is a healthy option and see how it is received!!!!

Since I have been on a healthy kick and I am trying to eat as mean and clean as possible, I have to adjust some of the things that I like to eat. There are certain times that I crave sweets like it is nobody’s business and this is one of my go-to recipes and I wanted to share with you guys this awesome recipe. Now trust me when you see the ingredients you are going to probably say seriously?!?!? Ha ha trust me it’s yummy and you will probably become obsessed.

  • 1 1/2 cups chickpeas or white beans (1 can, drained) (250g after draining)
  • heaping 1/8 tsp salt
  • tiny bit over 1/8 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tbsp plus 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup nut butter of choice (You can get away with using only 3 tbsp. If you use peanut butter, some people say it has a slight “pb cookie dough” taste, so you can sub oil if you don’t want that.)
  • 1/3 cup chocolate chips
2 tbsp oats (You can omit if desired.)
  • milk of choice as needed (depending on the consistency you want. I used a few tbsp.)

Add all ingredients, except chocolate chips, to a food processor (for best results, not a blender) and blend until VERY smooth.

I hope that you all enjoy this yummy snack!!!!

Week 2

Well week 2 is almost done on my training plan and I can tell you that I am just as sore and I am just as hungry as I was last week. It's funny because it hits at certain times of the day. I also think about quitting once a day and binging on some fried yummy goodness. I think about foods I wouldn't normally eat ALL the time ha ha ha.

I am not sure if this whole thing is for me, there is a huge learning curve and it is very demanding of my time so that doesn't make it any better but for now I am going to move forward because I know how proud I am going to be once it is all said and done.

I took my two week pictures and they look the same as the first ones that I sent in........I am also BLOATED from eating all day so I think that I am going to re-take them tomorrow morning to see if there is any change....... probably not but we shall see what happens in the morning and either way I have to submit the pictures......ha ha ha I hope my coach doesn't FREAK LOL

Other than that my life has been pretty much me being hungry in the evenings and working out and being sore ha ha. Tomorrow I will post my progress pictures so that you all can follow me on my littl fitness journey!

Whew 2012

Well I am back! It has been awhile and I have so much news! I hope that all of you reading had a wonderful Holiday and New Years! I know most of us have resolutions and what not. I have made some pretty hefty goals on my vision board and hopefully they will all come true!

In Alaska I had so many dreams of the things that I would do once I got out of there and I feel like my time here in Mass is the place that I should make those dreams a reality. I have progressed in my career enough to be able to sit back and relax a little bit (LOL not really I am testing for the next rank in May) but nothing is guaranteed so I must try everything to get ahead right staying stagnant for too long isn't a good thing! Anyway so I am starting 2013 with a BANG!

I joined the Cathy Savage Fitness Team. I am going to compete in April in a bikini competition. I am totally excited. I have been with them for about 2 weeks now and I can say that it is tough but I love it. I can't imagine what my body is going to look like just like I had no idea what my body was going to look like and I am kind of excited. I haven't given up on my beachbody products I fully intend on using them once I am done with my competition in April. It kind of all started when I was looking at the women on Oxygen Magazine, and I wanted to look like them, I actually started their challenge and that is how I started my fitness journey but P90X changed EVERYTHING for me and make me the ME that I wanted to see in the mirror. I am still drinking my Shakeology ha ha I love that stuff and wouldn't ever stop using it. I live by it! I digress.......

So last year I wrote out this big list of things that I wanted to do and being in a fitness competition wasn't one of them but it was one of those things that I thought about and then let go. I met a Coastie that did one and I thought it was cool until I saw what she ate and then I thought drinking beer was more fun, I then met a lady that did hair that was into figure and she won and I thought it was cool then but didn't have the funds to fly all the way to Anchorage just to compete on top of the costs so NOW is the time LOL.

It has been a lonely ride and I am now that girl that eats chicken and all the weird stuff but I feel that I am ready for it and want the change in pace for a little while and I want to kick a**** on that stage LOL. Oh well it is what it is right.

I am also committing more to this blog. I feel that now that I am doing this competiton thing I am going to have to get creative with my food so I am going to start posting recipes of the things that I eat along with how this journey is going for me. I will be posting motivation pictures as well as my progress pictures so stay tuned! Ahhhhh I am going to be a fitness competitor! WOW! LOL Until next time!

Jeannette!
